Love Wild Walks is a collection of walk reviews by Lindsay and Martin Wilderspin Lovell.
Although a pair of keen walkers, we like a route to have varied landscapes, points of interest, and a muddy-boots-and-dog-friendly pub. While it’s relatively easy to find well-trodden routes and maps, it’s harder to find detail about what’s along the way. Part of the joy of rambling is in the discovery, but a lack of information has led to many repetitive and mundane walks. With that in mind, we began documenting our walks so others can get more information about the routes and what can be found on them.
Written by Lindsay and photographed by Martin, our walk reviews showcase the highlights and lowlights of great walks and boring walks! They are not step-by-step guides to following the walk, but we do provide a link to the route on OS maps.
Most of our walks are under 8 miles long and in Essex (as that’s where we live). Although we hike all over the place – even the Costa Rican rainforest – as this blog is in its infancy we’ve kept it to recent walks only rather than risk memory serving us incorrectly. Use the category function to filter reviews, such as pub walks, dog friendly walks, or Essex walks.
