Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is: https://www.lovewildwalks.com. We are two individuals and not a registered company.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We use Contact Form 7, a wordpress plug-in to capture your:
– name
– e-mail address

when you complete our newsletter subscription form. Cookies are not used and your information is not stored by them. Their privacy policy is here: https://contactform7.com/privacy-policy/

The information is submitted to Mailchimp via API. We use Mailchimp to store your data for the purpose of sending you marketing communications.

In line with GDPR, we require you to opt-in to email marketing communications via a double opt-in procedure. This is necessary to prevent ‘bot’ sign-ups or others signing up on your behalf.

You can unsubscribe from these communications at any time by clicking the link in the email you have received. This does not delete you from the database (if we delete you, we don’t know you have unsubscribed). Please e-mail us directly if you would like us to delete all the data we hold for you.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous browsing information.

Google Analytics is a web analytics service that uses cookies to collect behaviour of visitors on our site. This information includes what pages of the site have been viewed, how often, and the details of the referrer (for example, Google search or a third party website). We use this aggregated insight to optimise our website.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by a corresponding setting of your browser software; however, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use all the features of this website to the fullest extent possible.

In addition, you may prevent the collection of the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google as well as the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en

Further information and Google‘s applicable privacy regulations can be found at https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en and https://marketingplatform.google.com/about/ The following link provides a further explanation of Google Analytics https://marketingplatform.google.com/about/.

Who we share your data with

We do not share your PPI, name and email address, with any third party with the exception of Mailchimp, if you sign up using the contact form. Mailchimp is used to store our newsletter distribution list. Mailchimp is GDPR compliant and their privacy policy is here https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

For users that subscribe to the newsletter, we store your data in Mailchimp.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, have left comments, or received e-mails from us, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Your personal data mentioned above is also sent to Mailchimp and stored in a distribution list.
